We talk about decluttering a lot here at Minimal You. Today’s featured article is for those of you that have completed the bulk of your decluttering and are transitioning into maintenance mode. Maintenance mode has two parts. 1) Don’t buy a bunch of new stuff. 2) Periodic decluttering to maintain a clutter-free home.
Today we are talking about item number two, periodic decluttering. Christy King of The Simple White Rabbit has a great tip for maintaining the clutter free home. Decluttering Schedule: How a Calendar Can Help You Declutter
Christy suggests adding reminders to the calendar on your computer or phone. She plans mini-decluttering sessions throughout the year. Each session focuses on a different area of her home. Over the course of the year, she will hit every area in her house, which prevents clutter from sneaking back in and taking over. (I have some drawers that clutter snuck into, so I could benefit from a schedule like this.)
