Ever since I dropped cable TV, I haven’t had to watch many commercials. I still get some when I listen to the radio in the car or when I watch a show on Hulu, but the volume of ads being blasted at me has been significantly reduced.
Joshua Becker of Becoming Minimalist is greatly frustrated with our consumer driven culture. He knows that advertisers are trying to trick us into wanting their wares. When he watches commercials he likes to look for the message they are trying to sell, which is often drastically different from the real benefit you’ll get from a product.
The Super Bowl commercials are usually the most creative and entertaining to watch, but are still very devious in the message they try to send about their products.
