I love reading about vacations. I like to see people having fun and enjoying time away from work. I also like to see what people learn from their vacation experiences. Today’s post features Beth Dargis of My Simpler Life telling us what she learned on her vacation to Chicago.
She shares a lot of lessons, here are my favorites.
Pack Lightly – Beth packed light, but her daughter didn’t. Her daughter’s heavy bag meant they couldn’t walk to their hotel, and had to take a taxi instead. I’m a big fan of packing light. Remove everything you won’t absolutely need, there’s no room for just-in-case stuff when packing light.
Experiences Instead of Shopping – I find it funny that some of Beth’s friends asked where she went shopping on her trip. I would love to see their faces when she told them she didn’t shop. Instead of shopping she focused on activities and experiences.
Clear Your Schedule for the Next Day – Definitely do this! A recovery day on the end of a vacation is perfect for catching up on sleep, relaxing, and unwinding from an action packed vacation.
I have one more tip that is a must do – Clean Your Home Before you Leave. Take a little time to clean your home before you leave for vacation, and you’ll feel so much better when you walk in the door at the end of your trip.
