I follow a few blogs of people who live in vans and RVs. Most are full time travelers that were looking for a better, cheaper lifestyle with more freedom. They often travel around the country and stay at free or inexpensive locations. Some are retired, some work seasonly or periodically, and others work full time.
This is a story of a young man that is working full time and not really traveling at all. Before he started full time at Google he interned. While interning he lived in the cheapest corporate housing available: two bedrooms and four people for about $65 a night (roughly $2,000 a month). He must be a minimalist at heart, because he said he couldn’t justify spending that much for a place when he was hardly ever there.
He basically just needs a place to sleep and store his clothes. So he bought a used box truck for ten thousand dollars. Then he added a bed, a dresser, a rack to hang clothes on, and parked it in the Google parking lot. He showers in the company gym after his morning workout, and eats all his meals on the Google campus.
Sounds like a good plan to me. You can read the Business Insider article to get the whole story.
