The message for single boomers—really think about your lifestyle, think about your stuff, and whether you like to entertain. And your dream home when you move might be a move up.
I agree with the first two sentiments in this quote: really think about your lifestyle and think about your stuff. Think about if you really need all that stuff you are hanging on to. Does your lifestyle really require three bedrooms and a huge upstairs loft?
Entertaining? Unless you entertain all the time, like weekly, then that shouldn’t really be considered. Entertaining is one of those red herring arguments to get you to upsize. We entertained 20 people at a Thanksgiving in a small apartment, and it was a great time. Entertaining doesn’t necessarily require a lot of space.
